Fishing in the Tasmanian Highlands

The Tasmanian highlands and lakes district provide some of the most exciting trout fishing in the world. Walk, wade, boat or kayak all in stunning scenery. We offer half day or full day guided fishing days and can tailor a day to suit your needs.

Tarraleah sits centrally in the lake district and there are endless fishing opportunities in the area. As always, local knowledge goes a long way and there is no better way to improve your chances of catching fish than employing a fishing guide.

Our Guiding Team are all members of the Tasmanian Trout Guides Association and have years of local knowledge.

Fish Yaking

If you really want to stalk your fish along the lake edges and go places you cant get to by foot or boat then try fishing with a kayak. We have 3 fishyaks each fitted with an electric outboard. You use the outboard to cover distance and your paddle once you start to fish.

The boats are extremely stable and almost impossible to tip. This makes them ideal to flyfish from and catch your trout once hooked. The fishyaks are fitted with rod holders making storage of your equipment easy and also making the fishyak a great boat to spin and troll from.

No Kayaking experience is necessary. We can guarantee you will be paddling proficiently within 45 seconds!
